St. Patrick’s Day Happenings in Queen Anne

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up on Saturday, March 17th and there are a few things happening throughout the neighborhood…

St. Patrick’s Day Dash

The St. Paddy’s Day Dash Day starts at 6:30 a.m., where participants can pick up their racer’s packets in the Fisher Pavilion. Gear check opens at 7 a.m., and the 1K dash for kiddos ages 10 and under is at 8 a.m. Adult run/walk waves have start time stages 10 minutes apart starting at 8:30 a.m., and the post dash bash, sponsor booths, beer garden and Stout Pounders Live is from 9 a.m. until noon on the Fisher Pavilion Green. Registration closes Friday, March 16th and costs $40.  

Irish Festival

Seattle Center’s Festál program presents the Irish Festival on March 17th and 18th. Experience Ireland and its people through food, games, live performances, visual arts, hands-on activities a marketplace and more. Irish music will showcase the culture’s musical roots and modern interest, while step dancing and Irish jig dancing keep the energy alive. Attendees will get to trace their own roots through genealogy workshops, learn the Irish language, enjoy contemporary short films, and engage in colorful cultural exhibits. The festival is from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 17th and from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 18th. Admission to the festival is free.

Sully’s St. Paddy’s Day Celebration

The bar on upper Queen Anne has yet to publish their plans for St. Patrick’s Day this year, but they’ve been hosting a St. Paddy’s Day celebration for many years running. Sully’s will likely have all kinds of food and beverage specials in addition to other fun happenings. 21+ only.

Queen Anne Events: Things to Do in March

From St. Patrick’s Day fun to other events, there’s lots to do in Queen Anne this month.

March 3: Seattle Children’s Museum Anniversary Celebration
6:30pm – 9pm | Seattle Children’s Museum
Celebrate the Seattle Children’s Museum’s 38th anniversary on Saturday, March 3rd. The museum is bringing back the games you played as a child, with special twists… Take part in giant Jenga, acting activities, and investigate the density of alcohol in the museum’s Investigation Station. As part of the celebration, there will also be raffle baskets, a live auction, and refreshments. Tickets are $50/person and proceeds will go toward the museum’s future programs and exhibits.

March 4: Hot Chocolate 15K/5K
6:45am or 7:55am | Seattle Center
The annual Hot Chocolate 15K/5K is coming to the Seattle Center on Sunday, March 4th! Choose your race, and after you run there will be a tasty post-race party… Fill your Finisher Mug with chocolate fondue, dippable snacks and toasty hot chocolate to sip. There will be a live DJ, Hot Chocolate inflatables to pose with, and a Kid Zone.

March 4: Scandinavian Pancake Breakfast
8am – 1pm | Swedish Club NW
The Swedish Club NW’s monthly pancake breakfast features an authentic Swedish pancake breakfast complete with ham, lingonberries and all of the fixings. This month, it will take place on March 4th, with live music from Tune Sisters, Sprida Ut and Nordiska dancers and musicians. The price is $11 for adults, $9 for club members and $5 for children ages 5-12.

March 7: YNPN Seattle March Happy Hour
5:30pm – 7pm | Queen Anne Beerhall
Network with nonprofit peers at the monthly YNPN happy hour! In March, the happy hour will take place at the Queen Anne Beerhall on March 7th. Click here to RSVP.

March 15: Monthly Uptown Art Walk
6pm – 9pm | Uptown/Lower Queen Anne
Visit Uptown businesses to experience new art placements at the March Uptown Art Walk. This event takes place on the third Thursday of every month. Click here to view the participating establishments.

March 17: St. Patrick’s Day Dash
6:30am – 12pm | Seattle Center
Dress up in your St. Paddy’s Day best and get ready to race! The St. Patrick’s Day Dash is on Saturday, March 17th. Race day starts with a kids lap and 1K dash, followed by the main race and then the post dash bash, beer garden, and more!

March 17 & 18: Irish Festival
10am – 6pm | Seattle Center Armory & Fisher Pavilion
Seattle Center’s Festál features Irish Festival this month, with lots of ways to appreciate and enjoy Irish culture. There will be live performances, hands-on activities, cultural food and drink, games, visual arts, a marketplace and more. Admission is free.

March 25: French Fest
10am – 6pm | Seattle Center Armory & Fisher Pavilion
French Fest is the next festival as part of the Seattle Center’s Festál program. It’s coming up on March 25th, with fun activities, food, live performances and more to celebrate and showcase French culture. Admission is free.

Queen Anne Events: Things to Do in February

February isn’t a busy month in our neighborhood, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do! Check out some of these events happening throughout the month, and mark your calendars!

February 2-11: Swan Lake
7:30pm or 1pm | McCaw Hall
The much loved production of Swan Lake returns to McCaw Hall on February 2nd, with nearly 10 days of magical performances. Swan Lake is a Kent Stowell production, featuring the classic score from Tchaikovsky.

February 4: Scandinavian Pancake Breakfast
8am – 1pm | Swedish Club NW
The Swedish Club NW’s monthly pancake breakfast features an authentic Swedish pancake breakfast complete with ham, lingonberries and all of the fixings. This month, it will take place on February 4th, with live music from Spelmanslag, Skandia Kapell and Bjarne Jacobsen. The price is $11 for adults, $9 for club members and $5 for children ages 5-12.

February 10 & 11: Têt in Seattle – Vietnamese Lunar New Year
8am – 1pm | Seattle Center Armory & Fisher Pavilion
Seattle Center’s Festál continues in February, with the Vietnamese Lunar New Year celebration, Têt. This cultural celebration is about welcoming spring and chasing away any evil spirits with a special roaring lion dance and firecrackers. The year 2018 is the “Year of the Dog”, and this celebration will include live performances, Vietnamese cuisine, crafts and hands-on activities, games, martial arts, and much more.

February 23: All Beet Dinner Pop-Up
6:30pm – 10pm | The Bite Box
Chef Aaron Tekulve from The Bite Box is presenting a special pop-up dinner on February 23rd to feature some delicious dishes with beets as the star ingredient. There will be a trio of tasting dishes, followed by 6 courses with beets paired with other fresh and tasty ingredients. Tickets are $95 per person—reserve your space ahead of time to ensure your seat!

Queen Anne Events: Things to Do in January

Things are slowing down in the New Year, but there are still some interesting Queen Anne events to attend and/or participate in coming up in January…

January 7: Scandinavian Pancake Breakfast

January 13 – 27: Così fan Tutte
10am – 6pm | McCaw Hall
The Seattle Opera presents Così fan Tutte, a comedic and beautiful performance that features some of the most ravishing music of Mozart. The story is about two men who decide to test their fiancees’ faithfulness by donning disguises and attempting to tempt them. Performances are scattered throughout January, between the 13th and 27th.

January 15: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
9am – 4pm | Seattle Children’s Museum
The Seattle Children’s Museum is celebrating the work of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 15th with a day full of special programs that emphasize collaboration, social justice and equity.
